A hybrid engine pairs Android's own Media3 with libmpv, FFmpeg and libplacebo, so common files use the fast hardware path and everything else still plays.
Plays almost anything
MKV, MP4, AVI, MOV, WebM, TS, FLAC, OPUS, DSD and more. Hardware decoding, HDR tone-mapping with passthrough where the display supports it, AV1 with dav1d, chapters, A-B repeat, speed and sleep timer.
Subtitles done properly
Embedded, sidecar and downloaded subtitles in SRT, ASS/SSA and VTT, rendered with libass. Adjust delay, size, colour and outline. Search OpenSubtitles without leaving the player.
AI subtitles, offline
No subtitles in your language? Lanelo can transcribe the video on your device with Whisper and translate the result. Audio never leaves the phone.
A real music player too
Album art, synced lyrics, a five-band equaliser with presets, a live visualiser, background playback with lock-screen controls, and a Now Playing screen coloured by the artwork.
Your library, your way
Folders, playlists and a drag-to-reorder queue. Continue watching resumes every file where you stopped, with the audio and subtitle track you chose. Bookmarks, frame capture, picture-in-picture.
Stream from your network
Browse SMB shares and DLNA/UPnP media servers, open direct HTTP and HLS links, and send video to a Google Cast device.
Explore free content
Public-domain films and old-time radio from the Internet Archive, Creative Commons video from PeerTube and Wikimedia Commons, audiobooks, live radio and podcasts. No account needed.
Made for Android TV
A 10-foot interface with a navigation rail, large cards and visible focus everywhere. On Google TV, unfinished films appear in the Watch Next row on the home screen.
Private vault
Hide files in an encrypted, passphrase-locked vault that other apps cannot see. The PIN is stored only as a salted hash on the device.

What does Pro add?
Everyday playback needs no Pro: almost any format, embedded and sidecar subtitles, HDR and the Android TV interface. Pro adds SMB and DLNA shares, stream URLs, Chromecast, on-device AI subtitles and translation, online subtitle search, the equaliser, lyrics, playlists, the private vault and more.
Does Lanelo send my files or viewing history anywhere?
No. Your library, history, playlists and vault live on your device and are deleted when you uninstall. There is no JK Codes server for the app to talk to.
When is it on Google Play?
Lanelo is in testing on Google Play now. Email support@jkcodes.app and you will get exactly one message when the public listing is live.
